The female neighbor was worried about the surveillance cameras on the trailer, felt “violated” even. They aren’t monitoring your house across the street! Dammit, if you’ve got enough money for a home mortgage wrapped up in a trailer, race car and tools, you’d want to keep a close eye on it too! These things gets targeted left and right nowadays.

Sounds like this owner needs a nice big BBQ with a bunch of his friends if you know what I mean.

If it were me, I’d park it back towards the garage, but maybe the owner has his own personal reasons for not putting it back there.

2012 Streetview shows a single stack black race car trailer on the side and looks like a boat parked behind that. Camaro in the garage and a notchback fox in the driveway. He’s an equal opportunity drag racer.

Woooow

Someone needs a hobby.

I’d understand if he was in an HOA that had a rule about it, or if the city had an ordinance but man, complaining about the security camera’s is next level crazy.

Do a BBQ. Smoke some meats all night when the prevailing winds are directed RIGHT at their house.

Have a bunch of drag racer friends bring their cars over. You’re gonna have some very conflicted manbabies.

Lmao she almost started crying because the guy put a surveillance camera on his property? Just fuckin give up, life gets a lot harder than that. Maybe he saw these two losers snooping around his property and thought they would try to vandalize the trailer. I absolutely cannot stand people like this.

That’s a really obnoxious location for a trailer if that’s your house it’s next to. I wouldn’t like it either. It crowds the neighborhood. When I wake up and walk out of my house to start my day, I want to see nice houses and a serene landscape, not a huge white homogeneous wall. It’s ugly. Also, would you want a security camera pointed at your house? You’d really be okay with that? Having not seen where this camera is maybe that’s not really a problem here, but the concept is absolutely creepy.

A similar thing in my neighborhood is one of my neighbors has a car-for-hire business (I assume) so they park a bunch of town cars and limos all around the neighborhood. I have multiple cars too, but I only street park one. Everything else is on my property. The town cars and limos clutter the parking and look bad. Besides the fact that he is using public property to store material for his business (admittedly not a factor in your story)

You really can’t put whatever you want anywhere you want on your property or the shared property of your neighbors. It’s rude. Either that means something to you or you have no class.

Looks to be mounted in the middle of the trailer pointed back towards the owners property/back area of the driveway. Kind of a temporary mount for good vantage point while its parked there.

That trailer alone is probably worth $35K on up to $50K depending on how it’s outfitted inside, ignoring tools and race equipment + the car(s) so that could easily be well past $100K just chilling in that trailer.

We don’t know the timeline for how long that trailer has been there, or the interaction between the neighbors. Looks like white collar vs. blue collar shenanigans.

You might be right. To somebody else, I’d seem like a totally classless person without any inkling of ambition to better myself. I grew up in the dusty Texas Panhandle, living below the poverty line. Having the things this guy had was just a pipe dream for our family. If I could afford this, luckily in my area, I could more than likely afford property with enough acreage to have a detached shop and room to park the trailer, race cars, fab equipment, etc. etc.

Heck, when people sling the term, “poor middle class” around like I’ve seen in other discussions, that’s a bit elitist don’t you think? I don’t even know what it’s like to live middle class. We’ll see where I land after school, seems our high class constituents have done a fair job at making it a lot harder to do that age old tradition of bettering yourself and family by “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.”

I am really not trying to attack your character here. I am trying to point out that there is a balance. It shouldn’t be that I never annoy my neighbors. They annoy me sometimes and I’m sure I annoy them despite my efforts. But on the balance I should be a positive thing in their lives just as they should be to me. That’s how we live in harmony with one another.

“I want to see nice houses and a serene landscape”

Well then don’t live in a suburb. All those houses suck and are ugly copies of each other. you want to see nice houses and a serene landscape go live on an estate where the house was designed by a real engineer and designer and you have a real landscape.

Repeated carbon copies of the same low end cookie cutter home and yards are NOT nice to look at.

Been there, done that! I have a 38' classic school bus I retrofitted to an RV and toy hauler over the last three years. Most of the time during the build it sat far enough back in my driveway to be hidden from the street. But my next door neighbor called the cops on me three times and complained its an eyesore. Well yes it is an eyesore, but that’s intentional - my theme is Mad Max. It’s registered as an RV; and the last time I was visited by the chief-of-police he couldn’t find any laws, ordinances, etc. that I might be violating and asked me to work on being a good neighbor. ARE YOU KIDDING ME... I NEED TO WHAT?

This is ridiculous.. if it’s not against HOA then mind your own. People have stuff, sometimes it’s big stuff. Maybe he can’t put it in the back yard. You think he should sell it and quit his hobby because his neighbors think it’s rude? Should he have to pay to store it because someone he doesn’t know thinks it disrupts the serene landscape of a cookie cutter neighborhood? Get real. He pays for that property, it’s his. If you don’t like it try either, asking if he has any other options, or just deal with it.

Get real. This is not how property works at all. If you think you have the right to do whatever you want on your property, I suggest you start digging. See how deep you get before someone shows up. Or start building. See how high you get before someone shows up.

The truth is that we have to live together, part of that means not being able to do whatever you want all the time. In fact, you and people like you are the reason we need things like HOAs and city ordinances. You can’t see your actions past your own nose.

Your type really incenses me actually. I am a huge proponent of people being masters of their own domain and destiny. But then small minded cretins like you will fuck everything up for everyone else by not giving a shit about the society that has given you so much. All you care about is your small life and your small plans. Grow up.

You’re the type of uptight person that most people hate to have as a neighbor. This guy didn’t dig a hole in his yard, nor did he build a tower. He parked his trailer in his driveway, on his property, in a neighborhood with no HOA. That is exactly how property works. That’s why us automotive enthusiasts move to non-HOA neighborhoods in the first place. So we don’t have to deal with cretins like you who will fuck everything up.
I mean... you think a neighborhood filled with replica low cost housing is a “serene landscape”... get a grip pal. Your type needs to stay in the confines of your perfectly governed HOA neighborhoods with your nitpicky rules about what type of bush, grass, rocks, and paint you can have. In this case though, it’s not your call or anyone else.
You say people like me only give a shit about ourselves, yet you would try to make this guy change his life because YOU are unhappy with yours. That’s called being a prick.
One more thing, trust me... Your neighbors most likely don’t like you, and I can’t blame them.

Ok, after your last comment I’m sure you are an idiot...
Look, the guy isn’t killing babies in his yard, or taping hardcore porn in his driveway... He’s not spray painting vulgar words on his garage or blaring death metal cranked to 11 all day and night...

He parked his trailer in his driveway...

Kinja'd!!! DynamicWeight > STAYone_benz

My last comment was from frustration.

I’ll try again, in good faith.

You obviously believe that there are things a neighbor can do that should be against the rules. In fact, you just gave some examples such as vulgar words spray painted on the garage or playing loud music. So it seems that you’re not really against telling neighbors what to do, but you have a different view on what is or is not acceptable for a neighbor to do. I’m sure we could come up with other things we both agree on like: placing a large trash heap in the driveway or using powertools throughout the night.

The point of this is that your argument that it’s his damn property and he can do what he wants is not true. It’s just that where as I think putting a large eye-sore in the neighborhood can be just as obnoxious as playing loud music at night, you disagree. That is fine. It is okay for you not to be annoyed by things like that. What is not okay is telling other people that they are idiots for being annoyed by such things. That would be like me telling you that I’ll write all the profanity I please on my garage and play music all night long and you need to just shut the fuck up about it because it’s my goddam property and I’ll do as I please thank you very much.

As with all things, there is a balance to be struck. Not being a local in this neighborhood, I am not sure whether or not this particular trailer should be banned or not. I do know that they have a ban on the books about large vehicles (RVs). So there is at least the intent in the neighborhood about banning things like this. Many would consider the fact that this huge trailer does not have a cab to be a technicality that violates the spirit of the rule. Much like if you banned death metal after 10pm, and someone insisted their music is okay because they’re playing Polka.

I appreciate your response. I should not have called you an idiot, as I don’t know you and for all I know you’re fucking awesome. The reason I did though, was not because you are annoyed by things like this, but because you seemed to be relating parking a trailer in your own driveway, to things much worse.
Either way, that is not how I carry myself in public, so I shouldn’t in a public forum either. I’m no cretin after all.

As you said. We have different views on what we personally find to be a nuisance. I can agree with that. It’s not my neighborhood, not an issue I have to deal with first hand.
Cheers
